All ya’ll should see Warm Bodies.

It’s fucking awesome.

awe yea, did u get the R and Julie thing? ROMEO AND JULIET BITCHES. except everyone lives? kinda?

I came in knowing that Warm Bodies was basically Romeo & Juliet with zombies.  I was happily surprised when it didn’t end like Romeo & Juliet.

I also liked Marcus because he was essentially Mercutio and Mercutio is the only reason I would ever read Romeo & Juliet again.

Les Miserables

In my personal opinion: disappointing. The singing wasn’t amazing, the filming wasn’t fantastic, and apparently, even the BATTLE SCENES weren’t amazing. How do you mess up a battle scene?

Singing wasn’t good. It really wasn’t. I wish it was. But the boys were the best. Followed by Eponine. The main characters? Meh. In fact, Hugh Jackman wasn’t a good Jean. And Amanda Seyfried wasn’t a very good Cosette, either. I wish they had gone with better singers rather than actors. It doesn’t matter how good their acting was (which was very good indeed), their singing was not up to par and it had me cringing.

Filming was boring. It was very repetitive, focused on close-ups and face shots. And my friends said the battle scene wasn’t well done, either. Which I don’t understand how you can mess that up. But it was boring. Really boring, actually.

Acting was great. They had amazing actors who did their parts well. Everyone’s acting was great. I hold absolutely nothing against anyone for their acting. Especially the children. They were awesome.

Overall…no. Disappointing and unimpressive. Go see it if you want, but I agree with the critics (and my friends). It wasn’t really worth it.

Seeing as I was the friend who could watch the battle scenes, I have to agree with everything triforce said.  I really wanted to like Les Miserables, to love it like the musical, but I really couldn’t.

I went in expected Hugh Jackman to be a really good Jean Valjean, especially since he is a Broadway singer, but then…  I don’t think he made a good Jean Valjean.  He definitely looked and could act the part, but he couldn’t sing it.  And with the movie based off the musical the singing is important…  I also cringed every time Cosette hit her higher notes.  Those were definitely auto-tuned and they hurt to hear.  That being said, I think Russel Crowe was a much better Javert than I expected.  I thought he would be the worst singer as I’ve never heard his singing voice—and I was happily surprised.  He did a good job as Javert.

Most of the movie I was underwhelmed and unimpressed.  The cinematography was nothing amazing, and I think things could have been done better.  Beyond Javert, Eponine, and Marius I don’t think there were many good singers.  I wanted the movie to be good, and none of my expectations were met.  :/
